Corset Constructed and Fitted to Shelby Wilcox as course work for Costume Constructing at UCLA with Professor Paul Girard.
Above is the finished corset with a separating busk in the center front. The corset is worn over a Renaissance chemise I made for my little sister, as I did not have access to a period-correct chemise at the time of the shooting.
Above is the last fitting of the corset. The binding at the top and bottom still needs to be applied.
Above is the Canvas toile and the first fitting with boning only in the front busk and back to support the lacing.
On the left, Inside of the finished corset showing the coutil interior, the middle image shows the pattern that was used after final pattern alterations and lastly the image on the right shows the canvas mock up.
Bonus images of the construction process. The busk has been inserted and is ready to start constructing the corset using the sandwich method.
